On Tuesday January 28th, we hosted our client conference, Rec & Roll 2025. The beautiful ballroom at Fallon & Byrne on Exchequer Street in Dublin City Centre was the venue to celebrate a significant milestone for business with our clients. January 27th marked the 10 year anniversary since the first funds went live on the Fund Recs platform.
We welcomed over 70 representatives from our client base for a morning which started with a nostalgic look back at the journey the company has been on and ended with presentations on what the future looks like for us and our clients.
Our resident Master of Ceremonies and Head of Account Management, Dan Herlihy led us through the day which started with a fireside chat with two of our Co-Founders, Des and Alan. Emma Bradley, our Chief People Officer, sat down with the guys to talk about the origins of the company and the journey we've been on. There's been lots of highs, not many lows, a couple of sliding doors moments along the way but overall it is a journey to be immensely proud of.
What followed was an excellent client panel which featured Paul Burke from Waystone, who was there 10 years ago when we went live. Clients shared the background of why their firms chose Fund Recs (a David versus Goliath victory set us on our way back in late 2014) and their experience working with us over the years. The strength of our technology and the value we create for our clients was evident but the people behind the product were highlighted in particular for praise. Our flexibility, responsiveness, expertise and ease to work have made each client's journey with Fund Recs a memorable one.
The importance of feedback was also a key theme. We value feedback loops at Fund Recs and it is a two way street. Our clients share insights on where we excel and where we can improve. In return, they welcome our guidance on how their practices can evolve as well. This is the essence of true collaboration and partnership.
In between the panels we broke up the day by trying something something a little different, sure it wouldn't be a Fund Recs event if we didn't! Paper airplanes were the challenge and our client teams delivered. Special mention to the winner, Sanyam from Carne Group who went deep into the memory bank and back to his school days to create not one, but two, very impressive jets.
Our Head of Product, Simon Gillis, Head of Strategy, Brian Lehane and Chief Technology Officer, Zohaib Jabbar wrapped up the session by sharing our product roadmap and offering insights into exciting AI projects we're currently developing.
Before closing the day with lunch in The Dining Room, we discussed the importance of community at Fund Recs and got to celebrate some of the Super Users in our community who left with a nifty mug!
